Linnihan, Rasske, and Young Announce Retirement

MAHTOMEDI, MN--(News Wire - 08/10/2009)

In an exclusive interview with zephyrfootball.com, Neal Linnihan, Grant Young, and Steve Rasske confirmed their intent to retire from coaching youth football and surrender the class of 2013 to the Mahtomedi High School football program.  The group of legendary coaches sought to dispel the rumor that they were considering bucking the establishment and creating a rogue 9th grade program.  Neal remarked in his best Irish accent, "Well, boyo, we gave it some thought but realised the idea was total craaap."  Grant added, "I ran the numbers and it turns out youth football is a lousy business...there's just no money in it." 

Steve Rasske shared a Brett Favre quote:  "Sometimes you get caught up in what's going on around you. The reality is that you are just a regular person. At some point, the career will be over, the bright lights turn off. That can come back to haunt you if you're not just a regular guy."  But in the end Rasske, who turned up for the interview in an ill-fitting Green Bay Packers jersey, left the door ajar by throwing out "...but, you never say never (wink)!"
